Today's Business: Navigating New Federal Protections for Pregnant and Nursing Mothers

Who better to write about two new federal laws that give pregnant and nursing mothers more rights in the workplace than new mother and HSSK attorney Erica Nolan? 

In the article, “Navigating New Federal Protections for Pregnant and Nursing Mothers,” published by the New Haven Register and other Connecticut Hearst publications, Erica explains the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which requires companies with at least 15 employees to make reasonable accommodations for expectant and new mothers. She also references the “Pump Act” -- Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act -- which expands protections of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

In addition to clarifying how these federal laws work in concert with similar, stricter local Connecticut laws, Erica outlines reasonable accommodations companies can implement to make the workplace more conducive for pregnant and nursing mothers.
