Law360 Reports on HSSK’s Breach of Contract CUTPA Lawsuit Filed Against So-Called TikTok Experts

07/26/2023
Law360 reported on a Hurwitz Sagarin Slossberg & Knuff LLC lawsuit filed on behalf of the plaintiff, Carter Mario Law Firm, a Milford-based personal injury law firm, against social media agency Happy Productions, LLC. The law firm claims the defendant violated the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act (“CUTPA”) by failing to follow through on a contract guaranteeing tens of thousands of unique views of the firm’s TikTok account.

The firm canceled the contract with Happy Productions in April 2023 after accidentally receiving viewership metrics for all Happy Productions’ clients. The lawsuit alleges that the company did not meet most of its guarantees and artificially inflated its numbers.

Carter Mario Law Firm maintains Happy Productions held the firm’s TikTok account hostage while trying to collect $47,500 in fees for services never rendered. In addition, the law firm asserts that Happy Productions intimidated employees, hired a debt collector, and threatened to go public with the alleged debt.

Carter Mario Law Firm is represented by HSSK attorneys David Slossberg and Erica Nolan.
