HSSK Land Use Practice Secures Approval for Former Men’s Warehouse Location in Westport

08/06/2023 | CT Insider
Sara Sharp, a land use attorney at HSSK, has successfully gained approval to convert the former Men's Warehouse building at 950 Post Road, Westport, CT, which shuttered in 2020, into a new retail and veterinary care facility. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed the special permit application and granted approval to HSSK’s client, Kind Pet LLC, during a hearing on July 17th.

Despite many people in the community being pleased to see the building—which had been leased out for temporary uses like tag sales in recent years—being converted into a thriving permanent business, some neighbors raised concerns in advance of the hearing.  Sara and Rick Redniss of Redniss & Mead collaborated closely with their client and the neighbors to ultimately gain the neighbors’ support.

The project, which was approved in just one night, will upgrade the currently underutilized site and promote sustainable infill development in Westport by making use of an existing building along the Post Road.

The project was reported in the CT Insider.
