HSSK Supports MakeHaven Makerspace and Community Mission
05/08/2025Hurwitz Sagarin Slossberg & Knuff is proud to support for MakeHaven, a community-based makerspace in New Haven that fosters creativity, skill-building, and entrepreneurship. Firm attorney Timothy Cowan serves on the MakeHaven board and volunteers as an instructor, teaching stained glass classes to members.
This year, MakeHaven is facing significant funding challenges due to the loss of major federal grants. These cuts have placed pressure on core programs, especially its sliding scale membership model, which ensures equitable access for lower-income individuals. This program—vital for those looking to launch small businesses, learn new skills, or find creative outlets—relies heavily on community donations to survive.
To help bridge the funding gap, MakeHaven is participating in The Great Give, a 36-hour online giving event organized by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. Donations made during this campaign, including the one made by HSSK, can unlock crucial matching funds and prizes to sustain MakeHaven’s mission.
More information about MakeHaven and a link to the GreatGive is available on the MakeHaven website.
