Chapel Haven Advances Its Mission with New Facilities and Campus Expansion
11/27/2024Chapel Haven is an award-winning, nationally accredited school and transition program serving approximately 250 adults with special needs. Serving the community from its New Haven campus since 1976, Chapel Haven embarked on a multi-year redevelopment plan to improve its facilities and expand the services it offers to individuals with a wide range of developmental disabilities. Following approvals HSSK obtained in 2017, Chapel Haven completed the construction of a new Welcome Center as well as adult independent living and residential education buildings.
For the most recent phase, John and Sara worked closely with the Chapel Haven team to obtain approval from the New Haven Board of Alders to establish a new Planned Development District for the Chapel Haven campus. The submission was designed specifically for the Chapel Haven buildings and uses, many of which are unique to the realm of special needs education and independent living. John and Sara’s work involved drafting the new regulation and coordinating with the New Haven City Plan department on various technical details involved with the creation of the new district.
