Hurwitz Sagarin Slossberg & Knuff Relocates to Historic Building on the Milford Green
10/23/2023Hurwitz Sagarin Slossberg & Knuff LLC recently moved to its new location at 135 Broad Street, a 7,000-square-foot building prominently situated on the Milford Green. The new office is next door to the firm’s prior location, where it had been located since 1979, and part of a mixed-use community developed by the firm’s client Metro Star Companies.
The historic building, constructed in 1853, was the home of Simon Lake, an engineer who invented the modern-day submarine and built the first one to operate successfully on the open sea. Lake worked on his numerous inventions in a laboratory that he built behind the historic home, homage to which is evident in the design of and signage on the adjacent apartment building.
In addition to its focus on the creation of modern office space, HSSK took great care to preserve and restore the building's historic architectural details in the build-out. It maintained many of the notable interior features, including detailed hardwood floors, original fireplaces, and intricate crown molding.
