It is estimated that one out of every two adults will require the services of an attorney each year. Common sense tells us that the best time to consult a lawyer is before a legal problem becomes serious, yet most people wait to consult an attorney because they cannot afford the attorney’s regular hourly rates. Discount legal plans provide a wonderful opportunity to control the spiraling cost of legal services. Why is this plan better than one of those HMO types where I pay a monthly premium and my legal services are free? There are two basic forms of legal services plans: insurance-based and non-insurance based. The majority of discount legal plans are insurance-based plans similar to HMO’s. Under an HMO-type plan, an insurance company collects monthly premiums. To reduce claims and keep costs down, most insurance-based legal plans contain significant restrictions and limitations as to what legal services are covered, or only provide coverage up to a certain maximum amount. These restrictions, exclusions, and limitations of coverage can result in a denial of a claim. The HSS&K Plan is a non-insurance-based plan, which allows for the lowest cost and maximum range of legal services. There are no claim forms to complete, no deductibles, and no monthly co-payments to worry about. What do I have to do to participate? As a qualified employee, you are eligible for the reduced rates merely by picking up the phone and calling our office. Because your employer has agreed to participate in the HSS&K Plan, you will now have access to high quality legal representation at a fraction of our regular hourly rates. |
