HURWITZ, SAGARIN, SLOSSBERG & KNUFF ATTORNEYS NAMED "LITIGATION STARS"

MILFORD, November xx, 2011 - The law firm of Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossberg & Knuff has been selected as a "recommended" firm for litigation in Connecticut, and three of its attorneys have been named "Litigation Stars."

Benchmark Litigation, a national peer review publication referred to as "the definitive guide to America's leading litigation firms and attorneys" announced its recommendations in its latest issue

David Slossberg, J. Daniel Sagarin and David Belt were featured in the "Litigation Stars" category. According to the publication, HSSK and its attorneys were selected as the result of a lengthy peer review, survey and interview process in which their colleagues and clients confidentially evaluated them. During interviews, recent casework handled by the firm was reviewed. Attorneys Slossberg, Sagarin and Belt received particularly high ratings from their peers.

Attorneys' abilities to strategize, write a persuasive brief, conduct cross-examination, lobby on behalf a client, execute discovery and pre-trial procedures, negotiate effectively, communicate complex facts to a jury, and connect with a judge or jury were examined.

"We are delighted, both as individuals and as a firm, to be so recognized by our peers and clients," said Slossberg.

Slossberg currently practices in the area of complex business litigation, class actions and employment law, addressing unfair trade practices, commercial contract disputes, land use, real estate, and reinsurance matters in the state and federal courts. He represents clients seeking to recover losses arising from fraud and embezzlement, and represents both lenders and borrowers in bank loan litigation and victims of all manner of discrimination. He co-authored "Class Actions in Connecticut are Alive and Well," published in a 2007 statewide law journal. Recently, Slossberg won a $14.7 million jury verdict on behalf of approximately 500 Connecticut auto body shops against a major insurance company for violating the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act ("CUTPA").

Sagarin has served as an adjunct professor of trial practice at Yale Law School and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, where he served as Connecticut Chair of the College. In the late 1960's, as an Assistant United States Attorney, Sagarin was responsible for many federal prosecutions and secured convictions of major crime figures and federal tax violators. Sagarin's practice includes class action work in antitrust, securities fraud, and ERISA matters.

Veteran litigator David Belt recently joined Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossberg & Knuff after the dissolution of his previous firm, Jacobs, Grudberg, Belt, Dow & Katz, P.C. Long regarded as one of Connecticut's preeminent business litigation attorneys, Belt is the co-author of Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices, Business Torts and Antitrust and is author of a number of articles on the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act ("CUTPA"). He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Quinnipiac University School of Law where he teaches antitrust law. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, of which he has served as Chair. Belt's practice includes representing businesses in unfair trade practices, antitrust, business torts, breach of contracts and employment litigation.

Benchmark Litigation is a national resource for litigation firms and attorneys on current trends and information in the domestic litigation market. Its list of local "litigation stars" for each state reflects those individuals who were highly recommended by clients and peers.
