Allison M. Near
Allison M. Near graduated cum laude from Colgate University in 1997 with a B.A. in English and French. She graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 2004. Prior to joining Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossberg & Knuff, Ms. Near served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Charles D. Susano, Jr. of the Tennessee Civil Court of Appeals. Subsequently, she worked as a litigation associate for a mid-size firm in Tennessee where she practiced in the areas of insurance defense and worker's compensation. Ms. Near now represents clients in cases involving personal injury, consumer class actions, complex commercial litigation, employment law, family law, criminal law, and civil rights. Ms. Near is also a special public defender for the New Haven Juvenile Court. While in law school, Ms. Near served as a teaching assistant in the Legal Practice program, where she taught research and legal writing to first-year law students. She was also involved in numerous clinical programs, assisting victims of domestic violence and representing indigent persons in front of administrative agencies. Ms. Near is admitted to the state bars of Tennessee and Connecticut and a member of the Federal District Court for the District of Connecticut. She is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the New Haven County Bar Association, the New Haven Inn of Court, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. |
